Hailing from Tijuana and a graduate of the Culinary Art School, Ruffo has worked with top chefs and restaurants around the world. His restaurant Oryx has been awarded the title of best restaurant in Baja California. Additionally, Ruffo has been recognized as a regional leader, being named one of the most prominent entrepreneurs in the northwest. 

He is also involved with World Central Kitchen and This is About Humanity, international civil associations dedicated to providing support with housing, food, legal services, and basic needs to families separated by the border, also received an award with the Fundación Tijuana sin Hambre, where chef Ruffo Ibarra is a collaborator.
